Key Takeaways:
No one wants to think about emergencies during a fun birthday party or corporate event, but being prepared can prevent panic and injuries. Whether you’re renting a bounce house for a backyard party or running a party rental business, knowing how to react in unexpected situations is crucial.
At Hero Kiddo, we design our commercial bounce houses with safety in mind, but emergencies can still happen—power failures, sudden storms, or even a kid feeling sick inside. Here’s exactly what to do to keep everyone safe if something goes wrong.
A bouncy house castle full of excited kids can turn chaotic fast if something unexpected happens. Unlike low-cost bounce houses that might collapse or deflate suddenly, our commercial-grade bounce houses are built to stay stable even in emergencies. But you still need a plan.
The key is staying calm and moving kids out quickly and safely. Panic makes everything worse, so knowing these steps ahead of time helps you act fast without hesitation.
One of the most common bounce house emergencies is a power outage or blower failure. The good news? Our Dura-Lite™ Vinyl material stays inflated longer than cheaper options, giving you time to react.
First, have someone monitor the bounce house while another checks the blower. Sometimes it’s just a loose cord or tripped breaker. If power won’t come back soon, calmly tell kids to sit down (so they don’t fall as the bounce house slowly deflates) and guide them out one by one.
Our bounce houses have wide exits, so evacuation is quick. Just make sure no one tries to jump out—that’s when injuries happen.
Even on a sunny day, the weather can change fast. If you see dark clouds or feel strong winds, don’t wait—get kids out before it gets dangerous.
Our commercial bounce houses are anchored securely, but high winds can still be risky. If winds hit 15-20 mph, it’s time to evacuate. For lightning, clear the bounce house immediately—no exceptions.
After getting the kids to safety, deflate the bounce house completely. Trying to leave it half-inflated in the wind is asking for trouble.
If a child gets hurt, feels dizzy, or has trouble breathing inside the bounce house, you need to act fast.
First, stop all jumping. Ask other kids to sit down so the injured child can be helped without extra movement. Then, carefully assist them out. Our bounce houses have low-entry exits so you can reach in if needed.
Having a first aid kit nearby is a must—keep it in your party rentals supply bag at all times.
Even with tough Dura-Lite™ Vinyl, sharp objects or rough play can sometimes cause small tears. If you notice a rip:
Small holes are easy to fix, but big tears mean the bounce house shouldn’t be used until professionally repaired.
Too many kids or wild behavior can turn dangerous fast. If things get out of hand:
Our bouncy house castle models have clear capacity labels—stick to them!
Though rare, fires or other hazards near the bounce house require fast action.
Not all bounce house companies think about emergencies when designing their inflatables. We do. Here’s how our commercial bounce houses help:
